Miss Scarlet has been renewed for a seventh and final season, PBS announced on Wednesday, March 4. Filming has already begun on the final season, which will feature the return of Felix Scott (Patrick Nash) and Evan McCabe (Oliver Fitzroy), who were not in Season 6. But there’s even bigger casting news: Cathy Belton (Ivy Potts) and Simon Ludders (Barnabus Potts) will not be in the final season, TV Insider has confirmed with PBS.
Miss Scarlet Season 6 ended on Sunday, February 15. Kate Phillips has starred in every season of the series. She said in a statement on Wednesday that she “will forever be grateful” for the experience.
“What a journey this has been,” Phillips said. “Miss Scarlet has been one of the greatest joys of my career, and I will forever be grateful to Rachael New for creating such a witty, sharp, and delightful character in Eliza. It’s been a privilege to work on a show crafted with so much love and dedication, and as we prepare to say goodbye, I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved and the memories we’ve made. Thank you to everyone who has supported us — I can’t wait to share the farewell Miss Scarlet deserves.”
The renewal announcement revealed the first plot details for the final season. Here’s everything we know so far about Miss Scarlet Season 7.
Is Miss Scarlet renewed for Season 7?
Yes, Miss Scarlet has been renewed for a seventh and final season.
Is Miss Scarlet Season 7 filming?
Filming in Serbia has started for six episodes to wrap up the story of Eliza Scarlet, Victorian London’s first female private detective.
Miss Scarlet was renewed for Season 6 in February 2025, just after the Season 5 finale aired on PBS. The series has a strong fan base, and its viewership clearly still succeeded after the big casting shakeup in Season 4, when series lead Stuart Martin exited the series as the formerly titular Duke (the show’s original title was Miss Scarlet and the Duke). Now, Eliza Scarlet (Kate Phillips) has a romantic relationship with Detective Inspector Alexander Blake (Tom Durant-Pritchard).
Who is in the Miss Scarlet Season 7 cast?

Miss Scarlet Limited and MASTERPIECE
Returning for Miss Scarlet Season 7 will be stars Phillips and Tom Durant-Pritchard (The Forsytes), and returning cast members Paul Bazely, Tim Chipping, Evan McCabe, Felix Scott, Cordelia Bugeja, and Ansu Kabia. Filming in Serbia has started for six episodes to wrap up the story of Eliza Scarlet, Victorian London’s first female private detective.
Bolton and Ludders are not on the cast list for the final season. They play married couple Ivy and Barnabus Potts, and Ivy had just ended Season 6 with a new job as a clerical manager at Scotland Yard. Potts, meanwhile, was back at work at the mortuary after being let go earlier in the season. Eliza got a huge payday and was able to hire a group of women detectives at her practice, and Blake was promoted to Superintendent. It was a pretty happy ending. What could cause Ivy and Barnabus to leave? Hopefully, the Season 7 premiere will explain their absence.
What happens in Miss Scarlet Season 7?
The Season 7 description reveals that a new crime boss is coming to town, and a new boss will shake things up.
It reads: “Inspired by her father’s work as a private eye, Eliza (Phillips) has spent the last six seasons breaking the glass ceiling while solving countless mysteries. She hasn’t done it alone though — within Scotland Yard she was first aided by her childhood friend William ‘The Duke’ Wellington (Stuart Martin), then by police Inspector and love interest Alexander Blake (Durant-Pritchard). Colleagues Moses (Ansu Kabia) and Clarence (Paul Bazely) have backed her up on case after case, and Ivy (Cathy Belton) has been a mainstay of support at home.
“In the final season, Eliza Scarlet has found love, but with it comes a new set of challenges, both on a professional and personal level. As she faces mounting pressures both at work and at home, she is reunited with familiar, friendly faces, as well as a powerful new crime boss who has arrived in town — and it’s not who you might expect. Meanwhile, Blake’s promotion brings its own complications, as he finds himself answering to a surprising new boss with whom he shares a complicated history. Season 7 raises the stakes, deepens the drama, and brings Eliza and Blake’s journey to a thrilling and satisfying close.”
Creator and writer Rachael New said of the final season: “Making Miss Scarlet has been the greatest joy of my professional career. Every stage of this beautiful show — from the writing, filming, editing, and finally, it reaching the screen — it has taken a whole village. A village of exceptionally talented people. From the wonderful exec team who first saw the potential in this story, to my brilliant writing partner Ben Edwards, the Belgrade production team, the Dublin post team, and not least to our remarkable cast led by the magnificent Kate Phillips, it has been a collaborative and beautiful experience. I’m very proud of how the final season plays out and the story we tell for Eliza. It’s a wrench to say goodbye to a character that I have lived and breathed for all these years, but Eliza will forever be with me, whether on screen or off.”
