GILFORD — The 38th Annual Island Clean-up Day is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, for island residents of Gilford, where Department of Public Works staff will accept appliances, bagged leaves, furniture, brush and clean wood cut in 3-foot chunks.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., residents are encouraged to arrive via boat at Dock 1 of the Glendale Docks where a DPW employee will greet visitors and assist with unloading. DPW staff cannot enter boats or watercraft. Visitors must possess Gilford taxpayer identification or a 2025 island resident sticker.
Unaccepted items include contractor debris, tires, electronics, liquid waste and household trash. If in doubt, please call DPW with questions at 603-527-4778.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection event will concurrently take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Common accepted household items include paint, pesticides, sealants, cleaning products, car maintenance materials and toxic art supplies. Up to 10 gallons or 50 pounds of waste can be disposed of at no cost.
