GILFORD — Stay informed about local island life this summer by attending the 2025 Summer Meeting hosted by the Gilford Islands Association and learn about loons, aquatic life and more on Monday, July 28.
Following the business portion of the meeting, Georgia Bunnell, an exotic species program coordinator for the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, will discuss the region’s aquatic plant and species life.
Additional meeting agenda items include the election of officers, a full 2024 financial report review including a look at outstanding dues, and a recap of the recent loon census that took place on July 19.
The Gilford Islands Association keeps watch on pending state and local legislation, provides educational programs of interest to islanders, meets with town selectboard members, participates on the Glendale Committee and works with and supports other nonprofit environmental organizations working to improve the quality of life on the lake. The association also assists the Lake Winnipesaukee Alliance with water testing for specific sites throughout the summer months, and pays for some lab testing of water samples. There are also opportunities for meeting and socializing with other islanders.
The Gilford Islands Association meeting takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, at Gilford Town Hall. For more information, visit gilfordislands.org.
