NEW HAMPTON —Tanya-Kay Vila, 75, of New Hampton, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Concord Hospital-Concord.
Tanya was born on September 4, 1946 in Berlin, to the late Arthur Landry and Marguerite Richer.
Tanya grew up in Berlin. In her teens she moved to NJ and graduated from North Hunterdon Regional High School in 1964. After which she attended St. Peter’s General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1969. She began her nursing career after graduation and was a nurse at Hunterdon Medical Center for 25 years in the Labor and Delivery Unit. During that time, she spent much of her career caring for the babies in the nursery. Tanya married her first husband William A. Messinger in 1969 and together they started their family by having their two daughters Tracy and Kerri. She later married her second husband James E. Vila in 1981, having their daughter Catherine. Tanya retired in 1999 and moved back to NH with her husband James. In her free time, she enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, reading murder mysteries, knitting, and sewing. She especially loved to knit baby blankets and hats for newborn babies.
Tanya is survived by her three daughters, Tracy Karpowicz and her husband Michael of High Bridge, NJ, Kerri Messinger and her boyfriend George Glashoff of Flemington, NJ, and Catherine Rand and her husband Michael of New Hampton; and her granddaughter, Cassidy.
In addition to her parents, Tanya was predeceased by her husbands, William A. Messigner in 1977 and James E. Vila in 2020.
There will be no services at this time. A burial service will be held at a later date for family.
