NEW LIMERICK, Maine — Robert C. Nightingale, 84, died on Nov. 10, 2024, in Bangor. He was born on April 2, 1940, in Houlton, the son of Wilford and Evelyn (née Chasse) Nightingale. 

Robert was in the heating industry for 40 years. He enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, making wood projects, and volunteering at local charities. 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Deanna (née Ellis) Nightingale of Bangor; his children, Bonnie Foster and her partner Robert Ferris of Bangor, and Scott Nightingale of East Hartford, Connecticut; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Patsy Nightingale of Bangor; and a brother, Gary (Des) Nightingale of Bangor; sisters-in-law Joan Nightingale, Wanda Bard, Beth Tracey, and Yvonne MacIntosh; brother-in-law Carmon Ellis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Robert was predeceased by his parents, his siblings Mildred Folsom, Gilmay Smith, Dorothy Leighton and Milford Nightingale. 

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, Maine, with funeral services being held at noon with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating.
