Ralph J. Minichiello, 83

 

NORTHFIELD — Ralph John Minichiello, 83, a longtime resident of Northfield died suddenly, Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at his home.

Ralph was born in Boston March 2, 1933. He spent his youth and schooled in Everett, Massachusetts.

For several years he summered in Northfield, and in 1963 moved here permanently from Malden, Massachusetts. Ralph worked for more than 30 years with the Arwood-Wyman Gordon Corporation in Northfield. He later worked as a bartender with the Steele Hill Resort in Sanbornton and Franklin VFW Post 1698.

Over the years he involved himself with area youth and coached with Little League and the Charles Dwinal League. He and his wife attended St. Mary of Assumption Church in Tilton over the years. Ralph enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. He was predeceased by his son, John M. Minichiello, who died in 1994.

Ralph leaves his wife of 60 years, Marilyn M. (Jaynes) of Northfield; daughters, Linda M. Ritchie and her husband, William, of Andover, Massachusetts; Andrea M. LaRose and her husband, Richard, of Bedford; and Diane M. Thornton and her husband, Craig, of Ellicott City, Maryland; also eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his sister, Ann Morello, and her husband, Roger, of Everett, Massachusetts; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road (584 W. Main St.) in Tilton. A graveside service for Ralph will be held for his family in Park Cemetery in Tilton at a later date when weather permits.
