FRANKLIN — Otto Frederick Kalweit, 76, passed away on July 20, 2025, at the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, after a period of declining health.

Otto was born on Dec. 13, 1948, in Newton, Massachusetts, the son of the late Otto L. Kalweit and Anna (Sylvia) Kalweit.

Otto moved to Laconia, in the early 1990s to be with the rest of his family. He worked at Aavid Engineering and Baron Machine Shop as a machinist. Otto liked playing any kind of card games and especially enjoyed playing cribbage, which he was very good at. His favorite times were spent creating Lego masterpieces with his two nephews when they were all younger. Otto was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed their companionship.

Otto is survived by his sister Diana and her husband Ron Barker of Belmont; his nephews, Eric Raymond and his wife Kim and their daughter Caitie of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Scott Raymond and his wife Kristin and their three sons, Reid, Samuel and Will, of Belmont; and his dear friend Duncan Campbell of Laconia.

The family wishes to thank the entire ICU staff at Concord Hospital in Concord, for their commitment to his care and comfort, and also Granite VNA Hospice House, especially Sophie for being there for him, and Jordie at Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home for her guidance through this difficult time.

Otto believed heaven was going to be a beautiful place, and now he is there.
