BELMONT — Norman “Norm” P. Caron, 89, passed away on Aug. 20, 2024, after a period of declining health.
Norm was born on Jan. 6, 1935, in Swansea, Massachusetts, to Gabriel Caron and Rose (Perreault) Caron. He graduated from Joseph Casey High School in Swansea in 1953. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He served his country for 31 years.
After his retirement from the U.S. Army, he worked at Boulia Gorrell for 13 years; finally retiring for good at the age of 71.
Norm enjoyed spending his time working in his vegetable garden, with his brother-in-law and friend, Gene Raymond. In later years, he and his oldest grandson, Cameron, planted and grew vegetables to sell at Cam’s farm stand. He loved vacationing with his family, especially his three grandsons, Cameron, Jacoby, and Curtis, who fondly called him “Ba.” He loved helping with transporting them to karate and cheering them on at their sporting events. He always baked them blueberry muffins for the first day of school. Norm loved going down to Gardener’s Cove on Loon Pond in Gilmanton, and enjoyed many Fourths of July family cookouts there.
Norm loved his riding his motorcycle, mowing his lawn and just jumping in his truck for a ride.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bridget (Lahey) Caron, and his children, Alan Caron, of Swansea, Massachusetts, Thomas Caron and his wife Pauline, of Yorktown, Virginia, and Caroline Drouin and her husband Jason, of Gilford. He is also survived by his four grandsons, Adam Caron, of Somerset, Massachusetts, and Cameron, Jacoby, and Curtis Drouin, all of Gilford; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, his oldest son, Steven Joseph Caron and siblings, Annette, Irene, Jeanette Claire, and Gabriel.
Per Norm’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Bali, Dr. Deery and Dr. Nazeer for their excellent care and kindness, as well as Granite VNA and Hospice for making him comfortable and peaceful in his final days.
