Merle S. Dearborn, 93

LACONIA — Merle S. Dearborn, 93, of Weirs Beach, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at Lakes Region General Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born on Feb. 19, 1922, in Laconia, the son of the late Fred and Leah (Smith) Dearborn.

Merle served in the Navy as a Seabee during World War II, being stationed in Hawaii and Japan.

He worked for several years as a tool and die maker for such companies as Scott & Williams, Franklin Brush and Vernitron. He was an accomplished carpenter and woodworker.

Merle was a member of the Wilkins-Smith American Legion Post 1 in Laconia, as well as the Weirs United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two sons, Dennis Dearborn and his wife Virginia, and Roger Dearborn; one daughter, Susan St. Gelais and her husband David; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Veda Dearborn in 1994.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, in the family plot at Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.
