MEREDITH — Marshall M. Budd, 87, of Meredith, NH, died on January 20, 2009, at Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on June 20, 1921, the son of Clara (Mayes) and Milton Budd, in Hobart, NY. He is predeceased by his sister, Ramona (Budd) Allen.

Mr. Budd is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Eileen (Carter) Budd, and his children, Nancy (Paul) Wedge of Moultonborough, NH, Claire (Daniel) Gurfein of Chappaqua, NY, and John (Jessica) Budd of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He also leaves five grandchildren, Jennifer Lanza, Kate, Brian and Laura Gurfein, and Sarah Budd.

Mr. Budd moved as a child to Queens, NY where he was raised, and later moved with his wife and children to Dix Hills, NY, where they lived for 40 years until moving to Meredith, NH in 2003.

Mr. Budd was a World War II veteran having served in the Army Air Corps, Air Transport Command in India, Burma and China. After the war, he worked for United Airlines and then pursued a career in sales in the women’s clothing industry until his retirement. He was deeply interested in geneology, tracing his family’s history to 1632 when his ancestors arrived in NY from England. He was president of the Budd Family Association for many years during which time he conducted extensive research and co-authored several publications regarding his family’s lineage.

Mr. Budd was an active member of St. Matthew R.C. Church in Dix Hills, NY where he served as an usher for 40 years and as president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years. Upon his move to NH, he became a communicant at St. Charles Borromeo R.C. Church in Meredith.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday at Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes #3 and #104, Meredith, 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo R.C. Church, Route #25, Meredith, on Friday at 10am. The Very Rev. Dennis J. Audet V.F., pastor, will be the celebrant.

Spring burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
