Kevin J. Barlow, 89
WARREN — Kevin J. Barlow, 89, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, after a brief illness at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, in Lebanon, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Boston on Jan. 26, 1926, the son of Peter J. and Ethel (Coocan) Barlow. Kevin was raised in Boston and attended local schools. Upon graduating high school he enlisted with the Army Air Corps and served his country with honor and courage during World War II in the European Theater.
After his honorable discharge from the military, Kevin returned to the U.S. and attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, earning his bachelor's degree, and he furthered his education at the then-Plymouth Teachers College, and achieved his master's degree.
Kevin's working career includes teaching science at the Plymouth High School, working at the Squam Lake Science Center, and in his later years he worked for the Trapper Brown Corporation in many capacities until his retirement.
He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time at his camp in Pittsburg. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Kevin is predeceased by his first wife, Ann Elizabeth (Hoover) Barlow, in 1980; his son, Kevin M. Barlow; daughter, Jeanmarie Gogonis, as well as several siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Susan (Smith) Barlow, of Warren; sons, Brendan Barlow, of Rumney, and Raymond Barlow and his wife Edith, of Plymouth; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Davis and her husband Weston, of Hallowell, Maine; five grandchildren, Ellen Barlow, Eric Barlow, Evan Gogonis, Sarah Barlow, and Wade Davis; a sister, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Mayhew Funeral Home (12 Langdon St.), Plymouth from 2 to 4 p.m. A committal with military honors will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kevin's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
