James McBride

LACONIA — James McBride, 86, of Laconia, died on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Lakes Region General Hospital.

James was born on Sept. 19, 1931, in Chatham, New Brunswick, the son of the late Vincent H. and Violet M. (Davis) McBride. He moved from Meredith to Laconia in 1963.

James was a Marine Corps veteran.

James was the chief inspector for the State of New Hampshire Water Supply and Pollution Control Division for 25 years. He retired in 1995.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, he went on many trips to Newfoundland, hunting moose or fishing for salmon.

James was a past commandant of the Lakes Region Detachment-Marine Corps League, a Mason and a Shriner.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Little) McBride, of Laconia; a son, Thomas V. McBride and his wife, Roberta; two daughters, Betsy J. O'Connor and Kathryn P. Decelles and her husband, Michael; five grandchildren, Melissa K. Brace and her husband, Kenneth, Meghan E. O'Connor, Matthew P. O'Connor and his wife, Keisha, Ryan T. McBride and Mikel Lane McBride; a great-granddaughter, Kinsley J. O'Connor; a sister, Theresa Geissler, of South Paris, Maine; and two brothers, William McBride, of Loveland, Colorado, and Edward McBride, of Nanjemoy, Maryland.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service with military honors with be held in Union Cemetery, Laconia, on Saturday, May 19, at 10 a.m.
