GILFORD — Gregory Dennis Gallien, 74, passed away on Oct. 28, 2025, at Tufts Medical Center, Boston. He was finally diagnosed with a rare cancer of the blood plasma, cardiac amyloidosis, which damaged his heart.
Greg was born Sept. 23, 1951, in East Derry to Norman and Lucille (née Jordan) Gallien.
Raised in Derry, Greg graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1970 and then entered the U.S. Coast Guard. Upon returning home he attended Franklin Pierce College, and received a degree in computer science. He worked as a software engineer for ODM.
He will be remembered as the most kind, loyal and trustworthy man. He supported the scouting endeavors of his nephew by volunteering with troops in Laconia and Gilmanton. Known as a lover of classic International and Chevy cars, he spent hours restoring them to their original form and majesty.
His family will always be grateful for his love and support, knowing they could always count on him to be present for them no matter what.
He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Lorie (née Antal) Gallien; stepchildren whom he treated like his own, Keith (April) Matthews and Andrea Matthews (Scott Sietz); grandchildren Owen, Henry, Aria and one more due any day; siblings Jane Potter, Donna McCarthy, Carol Darbyshire, Tim Gallien, Marie Beaudet and Sue McCann; along with many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the St. Andre Bessette Parish — Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave., Laconia.
A graveside prayer will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the NH Food Bank, 700 E. Industrial Drive, Manchester, NH 03109, nhfoodbank.org/donation-form.
