CONCORD, Mass. — Frederick A. Tilton Jr., 73, of Concord, Mass. and Wells, Maine, formerly of Laconia, New Hampshire died suddenly on Saturday July 5, 2008. He was the beloved husband of 55 years of Joan (McIntyre) Tilton.

Born in Laconia, New Hampshire on December 28, 1934 he was the son of the late Frederick A. Tilton and Agnes (McEgan) Tilton. He attended schools in Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School in 1952.

In 1956 he graduated from the University of New Hampshire, serving as class officer for four years. At UNH, he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity, Accounting Honor Society and ROTC. Since his UNH graduation, he has been an active alumnus, recently serving as chairman of his 50th class reunion committee.

He was also a graduate of New England School of Law in Boston and served as a member of the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers of the Supreme Judicial Court.

During the late 1950’s Mr. Tilton served in the United States Army as an artillery officer at Fort Bliss, Texas.

In 1998, he retired after over forty years with Raytheon Service Co. in Burlington, Mass. traveling extensively in his job as a contract manager.

He also was a family partner for twenty- two years with McIntyre Properties in Laconia, NH.

A Concord, Mass. resident for the past forty-nine years, he was an early member of the Concord-Carlisle Boosters Club, coached various youth sports including Little League baseball for sixteen years and was a founder of Pop Warner football in Concord.

He was a member of the New England Genealogical Society, New Hampshire Historical Society, and Lakes Region Historical Society, was a licensed Massachusetts Real Estate broker and was president of the Massachusetts Bay Investment Club.

In addition to his wife Joan, survivors include three sons, Frederick A. Tilton III and his wife Michelle Amato-Tilton of Boxford, MA, John B. Tilton of Needham, MA, Daniel G. Tilton and his wife Alayne of Stoughton, MA, a daughter Elizabeth T. Boucher and her husband Timothy of Canton, MA, eight grandchildren, Jacqueline, Michael, Molly, Eleanor, Katherine and Daniel Tilton and Colleen and Steven Boucher, a brother Col. Franklin T. Tilton USA (Ret.) of Laconia, New Hampshire, a sister Marylee Tilton Ayre of Agawam, MA, a brother-in-law John C. McIntyre of Laconia, New Hampshire and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and fun loving friends.

Funeral will be held Thursday July 10th from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, Mass. at 10 am followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord, Mass. at 11 am.

Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday July 9th from 4 to 8 pm

Interment services will be held on Friday July 11th at 11:30 am in Union Cemetery, Academy Street, Laconia, New Hampshire.
