BRISTOL — David Lee Brown, 71, of Hall Road, died on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
David was born on Nov, 25, 1951, in Laconia, the son of the late Robert J. Brown and Genevieve (Allen) Brown.
David was a tool and die maker at Hoyts Electric and had been previously employed with Aavid Engineering for 35 years. David had an extraordinary work ethic that was second to none.
Professionally, he perfected his mechanical tool and die craft and turned it into an art form within his career. He also built his own log cabin from the ground up, affectionately known as Dave Brown’s Mountain Retreat. He had various interests; he loved everything involving the sport of golf, he was a frequent scuba diver in the depths of Lake Winnipesaukee and was a proficient downhill skier. He had a love of cooking and worked at Lakes Region area restaurants over the years, including The Captains Table, Bristol Diner, Howard Johnson's, Hart's Turkey Farm, Paugus Diner and Shore Diner.
David is survived by his sons, Michael Brown and his husband, Glen Turpening, of Ann Arbor, Michigan; Tyler Brown and his wife, Milisha, of Oxford, Massachusetts; and grandchildren Nathan and Cobe Brown. He is also survived by his sister Linda Phelps of Laconia, nephews Jeremey Kercheval and his wife, Kristen, John Kercheval II and his wife, Annie, a great-nephew John III, and his former wife, Patricia Brown of Gilford. In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his brother Daniel Brown; sister Bonnie Gould; and niece Carrie.
A fitting quote that captures the essence of David: “Only the truth of who you are will set you free.”
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette-Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.
