MEREDITH — David Edward Parker, 67, died on April 20, 2026, at his home with his family by his side after a long courageous battle with kidney cancer.

Dave was born on Jan. 15, 1959, in Saugus, Massachusetts, to Frank and Phylis (Bulger) Parker. The family moved around as his father's career brought them to many states, including Pennsylvania and Ohio, where he graduated from high school.

In 1990, Dave returned to Massachusetts, where he then decided to relocate to Meredith, where he has lived ever since. Over the years he has been a dedicated member to the Meredith Fire Department, reaching the rank of captain in 2017, a title that he held until his death. Dave’s passion for helping others continued in his career as an emergency dispatcher for Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid Association for 21 years until his retirement in February 2023.

Dave is survived by his three children, Shelvy Grace and her husband Nathan of Thornton, David J. Parker and his wife Michelle of Loudon, and Corinne Parker and her fiancé Matthew Berube of Woburn, Massachusetts; and his brother, Joseph Parker and his wife Laura of Norton, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Nolan Grace, Molly Grace and Matthew Parker, whom he adored and enjoyed watching them play and enjoy snacks.

David was predeceased by both of his parents; his sister, Susan Zorin; and his brother, James Parker.

David’s interests kept him busy. He had a passion for railroading, enjoying semi-annual trips to Cresson, Pennsylvania, to take in the sights and sounds of the rails. While at home he enjoyed HO scale train modeling. These passions he shared with his son, and something that will continue to be shared with his grandchildren.

The family extends their gratitude to the team at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for the years of care they provided to Dave, and the nurses at Lakes Region Visiting Nurse Association for the compassionate care provided to Dave during his final days.

Calling hours will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 24, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 300 Route 25.

A graveside service will follow at the Meredith Village Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave’s name to the Wamesit Fire Company, P.O. Box 494, Meredith, NH 03253.
