David Edward Court, 89, passed away on Dec. 30, 2024, at home in Forest City, North Carolina.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on Feb. 2, 1935, to Edward and Dorothy Court. He grew up in Taunton, Massachusetts.
David was married to his loving spouse, Jeannine, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on Oct. 15, 1955, until her passing on June 24, 2020. David and Jeannine resided in Holderness, since July 1976 and David resided with his daughter Melanie in North Carolina since 2021. Together, David and Jeannine raised five children: Denise Robitaille (Michael), Melanie Maki (Scott), Lisa Reed (Leland), Eric Court (Tammy), and Heather Conquest (the late Nicholas). David was a grandfather to eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
David was a faithful member of the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses throughout his life.
He worked as a union finish carpenter and upon his retirement he worked for the town of Plymouth, as a police and fire dispatcher. He was known for his hard work, dedication, intense curiosity, and attention to detail.
David had many fond memories of camping with family and friends in his younger years. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A private service will be held at Trinity Churchyard Cemetery in Holderness, in the spring.

For a time, Dave and I had the same mid-week service schedule. What a privilege to spend time with him that way.
I heard stories of him as a boy being out in service with his grandfather. Dave would often say that they were easily recognized and commented on, the young boy and the old man.
It tickled me no end to see him interact with Dan Putorek. An unlikely friendship but a delight to behold!
Just two experiences from our Wednesdays together. We worked with a young sister one morning: Dave, the young girl (6ish?), and me - I can’t even remember how we ended up together. I asked the child what she planned to say, she told us her presentation so all three of us decided to use that at the door. One long street in Bristol and the morning was a delight!
Another time, again in Bristol, there was a group of about 4 teens standing in a driveway. Dave wanted to talk with them (my heart plummetted). Boldness in action! He walked over to them and started a conversation, all but one scattered. Dave talked to this kid and even got him to read a verse from the Bible. The teen mentioned that he wouldn’t ever amount to anything because he was attending Newfound HS. Dave told him that was a good school, that his grandson attended it (referring to Tim) and that his grandson was doing very well. I admire the ease that Dave had with that teen. Also, his pride in his grandson shone through.
If I were more organized, I would have sent a card but I couldn’t have included these memories. It just makes me grateful for Jehovah’s own vast memory.
I have the luxury of imagining him in NC because I know I’ll see him sooner or later. But I want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. -Kelly & Bob Misu
