Darcy Black Keough, age 82, passed away peacefully on Jan. 17, 2025, in Meredith. She was the widow of the late John Joseph Keough Jr.
Darcy was born Nov. 29, 1942, in Passaic, New Jersey, daughter of the late William and Doris (née Gremmel) Black. She moved to Cheshire, Connecticut, in 1955 and was a graduate of Cheshire High School in 1961. She prepared for her teaching career at Wheelock College in Boston, graduating in 1965. She spent the beginning of her teaching career in North Haven, Connecticut.
On Dec. 26, 1966, she and John were married and began a long, adventurous marriage together camping and traveling around the country and the East Coast during school vacations. Darcy worked at Home Bank and Home Fabric Mills in Cheshire while her two daughters were young. She returned to teaching in Cheshire where she worked until her retirement.
She and her family enjoyed wonderful summers in New Sharon, Maine, and Rangeley, Maine. She was also fortunate to spend time in New Hampshire close to her eldest daughter. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending auctions, and sitting by the lake.
Darcy is survived by her sister, Jill Rochford of Cheshire, Connecticut; her two daughters, Jocelyn Judge (Jon) of Center Harbor (formerly of Conway), and Megan Keough of Southington, Connecticut; her three loving grandchildren, Jaden Judge of Bethlehem, and Ellie and Mason Kaminski of Southington, Connecticut. In addition, she leaves nieces and nephews including David Rochford, Christine Robidoux, Kevin Drew, Cameron Drew and Jennifer Hill, and their children and partners.
At 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, funeral services will be held at St. Peter’s Church in Cheshire, Connecticut, where she and John were married and raised their children.
