BELMONT — Charles L. Alexander, 76, of 171 Province Rd. died June 2, 2003 in his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born in Jefferson on February 24, 1927, the son of Fred and Margaret (Berry) Alexander. He has resided in Belmont for most of his life.

Prior to his retirement he had been employed at Laconia Malleable Iron Co. for 47 years.

In addition, he had been employed for several years by the Inter Lake School System in Meredith in custodial care.

Mr. Alexander was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was the last surviving child in a family of four. He enjoyed tending to his garden and shopping at yard sales with his daughter.

Family members include his wife of 55 years, Florence (Dame) Alexander of Belmont; a daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Brenda) Fendley of Belmont; a son, Ralph Alexander of Lakeport; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St., Laconia on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, 780 North Main St., Laconia, NH 03246.
