LACONIA — Brenda Arlene McFarland, 82, of Blueberry Lane, passed away at her home, peacefully surrounded by her children, on March 15, 2026.

Brenda was born on May 29, 1943, in New Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of Thomas and Barbara (née Davis) Tennyson.

Brenda was a native of Guilford, Connecticut, Guilford High School class of 1961, relocating to New Hampshire in 1994. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, caring for her own children and pets as well as any soul who needed the warmth of home.

She also volunteered for Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Outdoor Education. Brenda loved all creatures great and small, cooking, baking, gardening and nature.

She later became a CNA, caring for the elderly, then working as a homemaker/companion for Community Health & Hospice in Laconia. Brenda also spent her later years volunteering in her community.

Brenda is survived by her son Edward “Rick” McFarland III (Kay); daughters Cathy DelFranco (Michael) and Barbara Paquette (Steven); three grandchildren, Jocelyn DelFranco, Michael DelFranco IV and James Paquette; and step-grandchildren Sarah Shields and Amy Paquette. In addition to her parents, Brenda is predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward McFarland Jr., and her brother, Thomas Tennyson.

There will be no calling hours.

Interment will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 13, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen.

There will be a celebration of life in Connecticut at a future date.
