Barbara J. Samuelson, 65, a resident of Franklin for most of her life, passed away on Tuesday morning, Dec. 19, at Concord Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 11, 1958, the daughter of the late Frederick Charles Nowell Sr. and Barbara May (Richards) Nowell.
Barb, as many of her friends knew her as, could always be seen with a smile on her face, working at the Lowe’s in Tilton since it opened. She worked there on the merchandise service team, updating the store shelves and displays for the 18 years they have been open.
She enjoyed crocheting and going shopping but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her only granddaughter, Hope.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents; her son, Shawn Samuelson in 1997; and a sister, Sandra J. Matava, who just died in October of this year.
Her family includes her husband of 46 years, Samuel F. Samuelson of Franklin; her daughter, Akiesha and her husband Jason Young of Hill and their daughter Hope. She is also survived by her three sisters, Anita M. Hernandez of Northfield, Earlene and her husband Frank Perreault of Madison and Cheryl Mangrum of Reno, Nevada; her three brothers, Kenneth J. Major of Hampton, Virginia, Earl F. and his wife Cheryl Nowell of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Frederick C. Jr. and his wife Pamela Nowell of Dallastown, Pennsylvania, and also her many nieces and nephews.
