LACONIA — Althea (Thomas) Sanborn, 87, of 308 Darby Road, died at The Courville in Nashua on Tuesday, September 9, 2014.

Mrs. Sanborn was born August 5, 1927 in Newton, Mass., the daughter of the late George and Blanche (Kneeland) Thomas. She resided in Newton and was a graduate of Laselle, Jr. College. She later resided in Framingham, Mass. where she raised her family. Mrs. Sanborn had been employed as an Administrative Assistant at Leonard Morse in Natick for many years.

Mrs. Sanborn was a member and volunteer at the Laconia Congregational Church and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Her family was most important to her.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Althea Sanborn and her life partner, Leslie W. "Hap" Beasley of Hong Kong and Kathleen D. Dube and her husband, Joseph, of Nashua; two sons, Kenneth David Sanborn and his wife, Lisa, of Merrimack and Gary Thomas Sanborn and his wife, Maura, of Charlotte, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Julie, Joanne and Jacquelyn Dube, all of Nashua; Ryan and Kyle Sanborn both of Merrimack and Kaela, Aidan and Owen Sanborn all of Charlotte, N.C.; a cousin, who was like a sister to her, Barbara Heald, of Laconia and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sanborn was predeceased by her husband, David M. Sanborn.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H. An Eastern Star Service will be held during the calling hours.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Laconia Congregational Church, 69 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H. Rev. Dr. Warren Bouton, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in the family lot in Newton Cemetery, Newton, Mass.

In lieu of sending flowers, the family suggests donations be made in memory of Althea for the support of breast cancer research and awareness through the "Pink Bow Campaign" payable to BCC Rally, PO Box 49182, Charlotte, NC 28277.
