LACONIA — The “Queen of Boston comedy,” Christine Hurley is bringing some friends and making their way north to the Lakeport Opera House on Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. for an evening of fun. This comedy show will be the Opera House’s final 2021 performance before closing for the fall and winter months.
“We are thrilled for our final 2021 show and guarantee it will be full of excitement and laughs,” said Emma Teto, Opera House talent director. “It’s been a summer to celebrate, and this last show with of 2021 with Christine, Graig and Mitch will not disappoint.”
Hurley, who has been a comedian for 14 years, has an innate ability to see humor in "everyday" situations. Her maiden voyage into the world of stand-up comedy was one of only a few finalists among thousands of entries at an open audition in New York City for television network, Nick at Nite’s America’s funniest mom competition.
“Expect the unexpected,” said Hurley. “As a mother of five children and who has been married to her high school sweetheart for 35 years, I have a lot of ironic experiences that everyone can relate to and find humor in.”
Headlining with Hurley are fellow Boston comics Graig Murphy and Mitch Stinson. Murphy is known for impersonating New England sports players and owners. Stinson, a former Navy pilot, has risen through the ranks of comedy in the Northeast with his original material that offers a unique insight into the transition from hot-shot Navy pilot to everyday civilian life.
The Opera House will close for the 2021 season on Labor Day weekend for venue improvements, upgrades and to work on next season’s lineup of performers when it re-opens in the spring of 2022. For more information on events and to purchase tickets in advance, visit lakeportopera.com.
