LACONIA — The City of Laconia is hosting a free training session for the iNaturalist app as part of the Laconia Conservation Commission’s plan to update its natural resource inventory.
By using the free iNaturalist app, community members can provide data that helps the city identify and protect natural resources.
The iNaturalist is a mobile application that allows users to photograph plants and animals, upload them for identification, and automatically record the time and location of the sighting.
The Laconia Conservation Commission will utilize this crowdsourced data to better define and preserve the city’s ecological landscape. Community members can take pictures for iNaturalist on their own property or any public space in Laconia.
The training session will be held on Thursday, April 16 at 5 p.m. at the Prescott Farm Environmental Education Center located at 928 White Oaks Road, Laconia. The session will last for about an hour.
