The Cowasuck Band of the Pennacook - Abenaki People are having a two day Native American Indian Inter-Tribal Pow Wow and 11th Annual Summer Gathering at the Parlin Field (Corbin Covered Bridge) on the Corbin Turnpike (north of the center) off Route 10 in Newport, New Hampshire.
The public, including Native American Indians of all nations, are invited and welcome to join in the celebration and activities.
The event is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. Native American Indian dancing and singing will start at mid-day. The host drum group is the Red Hawk Drum, a group that sings traditional Algonquin language songs of the Wabanaki that once were song all over New England. Artists and craftspeople will be showing and selling their works during the event. Special cultural demonstrations are planned for the weekend long event which will include story telling, herbal medicines, food preparation, and cultural demonstrations. Families of all ages are encouraged to come and learn about the culture of the New England Native American Indians of the region. A variety of food and refreshments will also be available for your enjoyment. Admission is $2 per person.
