Artists, architects, bakers, and gingerbread lovers of all ages and experience levels will show off their edible creations at Canterbury Shaker Village's annual Gingerbread Showcase this weekend, Nov. 25 to 27.
Contestants will participate in six categories, including non-judged houses (age 16 and under only), child, teen, adult, family, or professional. Houses will be judged on craftsmanship, originality, creativity, degree of difficulty, and overall appearance. All houses and decorations must be completely edible, except for base and lighting.
Admission to the Gingerbread Showcase — $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children ages 6-17 — includes refreshments, cookie decorating, a house raffle, and children's activities. Regular admission of $15.00 for adults and $7.00 for children includes, in addition to the Showcase, special guided Holiday tours and self-guided exhibits in the Village. Children under six are admitted free.
Canterbury Shaker Village is a nonprofit education institution and a National Historic landmark museum. More information is available at www.shakers.org or at 603-783-9511.
