GILFORD — Patrick's Pub will be hosting a unique, free forum on opioids, heroin and addiction on Monday, June 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.
A panel of experts, including Dr. Paul Racicot and pharmacist Paul Grasso, will discuss how opioids are impacting our communities and how they work. Science Cafe NH sessions are held monthly in Nashua and Concord with the goal of connecting people directly with the experts in an interactive, informative way. The format encourages anyone to ask a question, learn from experts and better understand the science behind opioids, heroin and the cycle of addiction.
In New Hampshire today, drug addiction continues to set records for the number of deaths each year. This scourge affects all – rich or poor, tall or short, black or white –- and promises further acceleration. This session will provide the chance to talk with medical and first-responder professionals about the realities of these drugs, their impact on users and society, and effective strategies for treatment.
Previous session on this topic inspired the leaders of SCNH to reach out across the state, to go beyond legislation in Concord and death totals on the evening news, and to offer Lakes Region citizens the chance to get their questions answered.
