Match play in the Waukewan Ladies Golf League began with overcast skies on July 19, but when thunder and lightning began all play was stopped temporarily. A downpour had created puddles all over the course, but eventually play continued.
The ghost of "nobirdies" loomed over the Waukewan Golf Coursethis day. However, there was a shining moment for Kelly Dunn. She scored a 52 for a "personal best" round of golf. She was "closest to the pin on hole # 3, landing her drive 10' 6 1/2" from the hole. Kelly also won "fewest putts for the 19+ handicappers", with an amazing 13 putts in nine holes. Ingrid Smithalso had a great day coming in withthe "fewest putts for the under19 handicappers" with a stunning 11 putts.
JoAnn Strickland hadthe onlychip-in on hole # 1 and took home the entire pot. Only four ladies scored under 50 (surely due to the soggy weather). Anne Strapp pulled off a 47, Donna Dalzell had a 48, and Betsy Cox and JoAnn Strickland each had 49's.
The Parrot Heads (Brenda Trudeau, Carolyn Koczera, Cindy Keenan, Joanne O'Connor) remain in first place, extending their total points to 15.5 by taking 3 points this week. Driving Daisies (Cindy Brown, Debra D'Arcy, Donna Dalzell, Karen Bourgeois) took sole possession of second place by taking 3 points and totalling 12.5 points. Rose Hips (Judy Nelson, Kelly Dunn, Pat Armstrong, Rose Hansford) pulled up from sixth place into third by winning 3.5 points and totalling 11.5. Lady Slippers (Barbara Barbuto, Betsy Cox, Marilyn Lynch, Nancy Lindbloom) slipped into fourth by winning 2 points to total 11 points.
