MEREDITH — The Lakes Region Planning Commission will hold its regular commissioners meeting to discuss the value and importance of local Hazard Mitigation Plans on Monday, March 30, at the Moultonborough Town Hall, 6 Holland St.

The panel for this discussion will include federal, state and local perspectives on why municipal officials should consider this planning tool for their community. Panel members will be Elizabeth Peck, of state Homeland Security and Emergency Management (NHHSEM), State Hazard Mitigation Officer Parker Moore, NHHSEM, Hazard Mitigation Planner; and David Ford, Wolfeboro's Director of Public Works and Water & Sewer Utilities.

A transportation update portion of this meeting will briefly cover: 1) the NH Department of Transportation (NHDOT) Ten Year Plan update has begun – what are the regional priorities; 2) on the heels of adopting The Lakes Region Plan 2015-2020 LRPCs proposed FY 16-17 transportation work program includes opportunity to further explore the connections between the transportation network and water quality; and 3) comments to date indicate the Lakes Region Tour Scenic Byway may benefit by changing some routes.
