Applications for 2009 Lakes Region General Hospital Auxiliary Scholarships are now being accepted.
The awards are restricted to those individuals who plan to enter a medical or health-related field, and who are seeking a degree or certification in an accredited program. High school seniors, college students already enrolled in such a program and continuing education students may apply. All applicants must reside in Belknap County or the LRGHealthcare service area. Categories for consideration are: financial need, academic record and promise, extracurricular activities including special honors, employment, community service, and the students’ goals and needs.
New this year, applications and recommendation forms may be downloaded from the LRGHealthcare website at www.lrgh.org. Applications are also available in the lobbies of Lakes Region General Hospital and Franklin Regional Hospital or in the Guidance Office in the following area high schools: Belmont High, Franklin High, Gilford High, Inter-Lakes High, Laconia Christian School, Laconia High School, Moultonborough Academy, Newfound Regional High, Pittsfield High School, Prospect Mtn. High School, Sant Bani School, and Winnisquam Regional High, as well as at the N.H. Technical College Financial Aid Office in Laconia.
Applications must be returned postmarked on or before May 1, 2009 to be eligible for consideration.
Since 2000, the LRGH Auxiliary has awarded over $140,000 in scholarship aid to healthcare students. Scholarship funding is the direct result of the proceeds earned in the LRGH Auxiliary Gift Shop, located at Lakes Region General Hospital.
