The Laconia and Franklin libraries are featured in the N.H. Department of Cultural Resources 2007 Living Legacy Calendar.
The attractive wall calendar features 14 of the more than 230 libraries within New Hampshire. Each will be represented in an exhibit currently on display at the state library. The calendar was made possible through the generosity of Citizens Bank Foundation.
“We are delighted to once again join with the Department of Cultural Resources in creating this beautiful and unique calendar that recognizes the importance of the libraries in New Hampshire,” said Cathleen Schmidt , President and CEO of Citizens Bank New Hampshire. “Thanks to this partnership, we are able to honor the staff and volunteers whose tireless efforts allow New Hampshire residents to continue to enjoy the equal access to information and accessibility of libraries in their communities.”
“From the first public town library in Peterborough to the most recently built, New Hampshire’s libraries are not only part of our history, but continue to serve as a continually updated resource for the communities they serve,” said Van McLeod, Commissioner of the Department of Cultural Resources. “We are honored to bring them the attention and recognition each of them so deserve, as well as the many others throughout the state who continue this fine tradition.”
Calendars are available for $5 each and may be purchased at the state library and at all of the 14 featured libraries. The calendar is also available on-line at www.nh.gov/nharts. Proceeds from calendar sales will support international cultural exchanges administered by the state Department of Cultural Resources.
