LACONIA — Laconia Adult Education is offering two WELDING BASIC:ARC, GAS, MIG & TIG CLASSES during the fall semester.
The Welding: Basic ARC, GAS, MIG & TIG Classes are scheduled to start on Tuesday, September 22 from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday, September 23 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. for a period of ten weeks. The welding classes will be taught by experienced welding instructors. Class size is limited.
Students will be exposed to the welding equipment - how to use it and how it works. Shop safety will be covered and welding terminology discussed. There will be demonstrations and hands on opportunities in the areas of the Oxy welding and Braze welding processes. Torch cutting techniques will be demonstrated as well as the silver brazing process. Students will also learn about the Shielded Arc process. Students will work on one section of each process covered in class, and will be evaluated on the techniques learned.
The Welding Advanced: MIG, TIG and STICK class will begin on Thursday, September 24 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. These classes will meet for a period of ten weeks and class size is limited.
Students learn to utilize the equipment, correct vocabulary, and begin to understand the welding theory and welding symbols. Square groove butt joints and fillet welds in carbon and stainless steel are employed in the vertical and horizontal welding positions.
