GILFORD — On Thursday, May 8 at 6 p.m. the Gilford Public Library will host a program on the life and canonization of Pope John XXII, who was pope from October 1958 to June 1963. Best known for convoking the Second Vatican Council, he was canonized on Sunday, April 27 alongside Pope John Paul II.
This 90-minute illustrated, interactive program, strictly secular, was put together by papal historian and author Anura Guruge to mark this occasion. The goal of this program is to provide an illuminating and memorable portrait of this pope's entire life – all the way to the canonization. This program is free and open to the public.
