GILFORD — Three special events are planned for the Public Library during the first two weeks of October:

A "Make It! Zombie Workshop for Teens" is planned for Thursday, Oct. 8 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The zombie hoard will be released as kids and teens learn how to use simple household ingredients and costume makeup to do their own gruesome zombie makeup. Of course, no zombie program would be complete without — fake corn syrup blood that is! Interested students can sign up for this activity at the Circulation Desk.

A book launch and signing for "Gilford: Images of America" by local authors Doris Chitty and Geoffrey Ruggles will be held on Thursday, oct. 8 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Participants are invited to learn about the history of Gilford and to see imagery of the town's development from this newly published work and its authors. This book covers the history of the town since it was settled. Light refreshments will be provided.

Early School Release Activities are planned for Wednesday, Oct. 14. The library will have activities for elementary and middle school-age children after school lets out. Game Day for elementary-aged students will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Participants can choose from a variety of different interactive and board games during this fun afternoon activity. Sign up is required for this program and interested students can sign up that the Circulation Desk. For middle school-aged students there will be a screening of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" playing in the Teen Room — with light refreshments — from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.

For more information about any of these projects, contact the Gilford Public Library at library@gilfordlibrary.org or 524-6042.
