Marriage of Metals, handcrafted art jewelry by Anne Behrsing will be the featured exhibit throughout the month of June at the Meredith League of NH Craftsmen Gallery.

Behrsing has been making jewelry in her Francestown studio for more than 25 years. After studying with renowned jeweler Glenda Aronson, she developed a love for a process known as Mokume Gane , the marriage of metals. Using nickel silver and sterling silver, Behrsing creates a stripped pattern by cutting thin strips of each metal and then lines them next to one another. The pieces are then soldered onto a back plate. This stripped pattern of dark and shiny silver is then incorporated into her work. By cutting the stripes across she also creates her unique checkerboard patterns which gives each piece a one of a kind look.

"The process is very much like wood inlay or butcher block," says Behrsing, who also adds touches of 14 or 22 karat gold to each piece to bring the marriage of these metals to a happy ending.
