MEREDITH — The Winni Players Community Theatre is mounting a special production in conjunction with the Meredith Historical Society and the M/S Mount Washington. Auditions are open to anyone aged 18 and above, and will take place, by appointment, at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse on Sunday and Monday, July 27-28.
Last year the Meredith Historical Society approached the Winnipesaukee Playhouse with a script called "Mutiny on the Mount," a musical written by Archie comics creator and Meredith resident Bob Montana. The show was last performed in Meredith in 1952, and is a musical comedy based on the songs from W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan’s "H.M.S. Pinafore." As it is, in fact, set on the Mount, the Playhouse presented the idea for a dinner, cruise and show experience to Mount Washington cruises, which they readily accepted.
This charming musical has parts for all ages and abilities, and newcomers are encouraged to audition. It will be directed by award-winning local director Rick Morten, with music direction by Karen Jordan. The show will be performed on the Mount Washington Oct. 1-3 and 8-10.
Information about auditions, including what to prepare, a rehearsal schedule and character list, can be found at winnipesaukeeplayhouse.org. The 2025 season at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse is sponsored by Northeast Mill Services.
