MEREDITH ― It's now easier than ever to relive or discover Meredith's history. The Meredith Public Library has announced completion of a project which digitized all the library's holdings of The Meredith News for the years 1925-1988, resulting in the availability of 45,609 pages spanning the seven decades.

The full database is available free of charge anywhere via the internet from a link found on the library's website. Historical researchers and interested parties can simply navigate to the library's homepage at MeredithLibrary.org and navigate to the Digital Meredith News Archive link found under the Reading and Research tab.

Database options include browsing complete issues by date or executing a full text search with the option to narrow by parameters. As it says on the site, "Whether you’re tracing family roots, reviewing local events, or exploring civic life over time, this archive brings Meredith’s story to your fingertips. By preserving and sharing these newspapers online, the library strengthens community identity and keeps the town’s heritage accessible to all."

The project was made possible due to the Friends of the Meredith Library, the New Hampshire State Library and Salmon Press.

The ultimate goal is to digitize every available, existing issue of the newspaper. The plan for the next phase is to digitize editions of The Meredith News from the years 1989 to 2008.

Anyone interested in donating funds toward this goal should contact Erin Apostolos at the library: erin@meredithlibrary.org or call 603-279-4303.
