Several Gilmanton Old Home Day events set for Aug. 16

GILMANTON — The 128th Gilmanton Old Home Day is Saturday, Aug. 16, on the grounds of the Smith Meetinghouse. The day opens with a ceremony at 10 a.m. and live entertainment and activities through 3 p.m.

"We are so excited with the new entertainment and activities added to this year’s program. We are hoping more young families will attend," said Sarah Baldwin-Welcome, chairperson. "This year, young and old will enjoy playing a 'free' round of Vertical Entertainment’s nine-hole mini golf and then we added cornhole. The long-term weather forecast looks good, and we hope everyone will pack up the kids, family, lawn chairs and join in the fun."

A long-standing highlight of the day is the traditional bean-hole bean dinner served family-style at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Diners will enjoy their choice of pea, kidney and vegetarian beans (prepared in traditional bean holes on site) that are served with ham, brown bread, coleslaw, a beverage and homemade pie. The dinner tickets will be sold at the event.

This year’s live entertainment will be 12ozSoul, a band with a local resident Mikey Gallant, and Gilmanton's Dump Run Gang of local musicians.

New this year, Madeleine Gosselon Wright, an Abenaki storyteller, will join Bashirah Fusion Belly Dancing and Lindsay and her Puppet Pals to the program. The Gilmanton Historical Society will have a display on "Gilmanton and the American Revolution," 20+ vendors, and much more. No dogs allowed. Free admission and free parking.
