GILFORD — Visit the Gilford Public Library at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, for “From the Red Hills to the White Mountains,” exploring the life of illustrator Robert Childress.

Author Nancy Childress will talk about her father's life as the illustrator for the Sally, Dick and Jane reading books in the 1950s as well as portraits and commercial ads for Coca-Cola, Wonder Bread, Westinghouse and Campbell Soup. Nancy was the model for Sally. “From the Red Hills to the White Mountains” books will be available for purchase and signed by Childress at the event.
