ALTON — The Prospect Mountain High School wrestling community is celebrating a landmark achievement following senior Robert Prescott’s impressive performance at the New Hampshire Meet of Champions on Feb. 28. Facing off against the best wrestlers from every division in the state, Prescott secured a 6th place finish, cementing his legacy as one of the program’s most formidable athletes.

Prescott entered the MOC with a staggering 20-0 undefeated record, a testament to a season defined by discipline and dominance. His path to the state’s biggest stage was paved with four first-place tournament finishes, most notably his crowning as the Division III Heavyweight State Champion. He wasted no time asserting his presence at the MOC by pinning his first two opponents, showcasing the raw power and technique that guided his undefeated streak. In a highly anticipated semifinal clash, Prescott went the full six minutes against the No. 2 seed from Pinkerton Academy. While he narrowly missed a spot in the finals against the state's top seed, his performance proved he belongs among the elite.

The tournament was a grueling gauntlet, and after a long day that was both emotionally and physically draining, Prescott continued to battle through a field of seasoned veterans. Despite the fatigue and some difficult late-round matches, he maintained his composure to finish sixth in the state overall. The "Timber Wolf" spirit was out in full force to support Prescott's final matches. A dedicated group of teammates, friends, and family were joined by key members of the PMHS administration, including Superintendent Tim Broaderick, Principal Dave Latchaw, and Athletic Director James Christie, who all traveled to cheer on their state champion.

Coaches Derek Pappaceno and Steve Mcgranaghan expressed immense pride in Prescott’s season and his entire wrestling career. To see a second-year wrestler achieve this level of success brings a great deal of pride and momentum to the young wrestling program at PMHS. While Prescott’s individual journey concludes on a high note, the team is already looking forward to conditioning, training, and recruiting in preparation for next season.
