LACONIA — Three Community created paintings will be on display in the lobby of the Colonial Theater when the curtain rises on the Powerhouse Theatre’s production of "Our Town" on Friday, Nov. 19. Up until now the only people who know what they look like are the many community members who created them.

The three paintings are one part of a larger celebration of Our Town, Laconia and they will officially be unveiled on Thursday, Nov. 18 at Defiant Records right next door to the newly restored theater. The public is invited to meet the artists and celebrate from 5:30-7 p.m. at this popular Downtown venue.

The Our Town, Laconia Past, Present, and Future Project that was hosted by the Belknap Mill and coordinated by their Artist in Residence, Larry Frates over the past month, as part of this Our Town celebration. The Mill hosted painting time, art supplies and studio space for the project to take on a life of its own.

Once completed the paintings, created using a variety of art techniques and materials, moved on to another Downtown business to be framed for the unveiling. Piedmont Print and Frame, located on Canal Street, has helped to complete the entire exhibition process with their keen eye for quality framing.

Following the weekend exhibition, the paintings will return to the Belknap Mill where they will become part of a larger Our Town exhibition focusing on Laconia’s arts community of adult, teen and child artists. The Riverside Gallery and lobby exhibition spaces will come alive to celebrate Our Town.
