MOULTONBOROUGH — The Moultonborough Public Library will welcome Plymouth State University Professor Kelsie Brook Eckert who will speak about Revolutionary Era heroine, Mercy Otis Warren, at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, March 24, at the library.

Mercy Otis Warren was a poet, playwright and pamphleteer in Colonial times. Her poems and plays attacked British rule and advocated for independence. She was in regular correspondence with John Adams, Abigail Adams, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson, among others. In 1805 she published the first comprehensive history of the American Revolutionary War. Her work and influence have been largely set aside because of her gender, and Eckert will shine a light on her many accomplishments in her engaging talk.

Eckert is the coordinator of social studies education at PSU, the executive director of the Remedial Herstory Project, and the state coordinator for National History Day in New Hampshire. She is a multi-award winning history teacher and author of "Teaching Women's History: Breaking Barriers and Undoing Male Centrism in K-12 Curriculum."

This event is made possible by funding from NH Humanities. It is free to the public and open to all. Register for this program on the library’s website at moultonboroughlibrary.org/events-calendar or call the library at 603-476-8895.
