MEREDITH ― Mandy's Angels Diabetic Service Dogs, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing life-saving diabetic alert service dogs to children living with type 1 diabetes, will host their Second Annual "Paws for a Cause" Dog Friendly 5k Run/Walk in Meredith — a dog-friendly event open to participants of all ages. The fundraiser takes place on Saturday, Sept. 12.

These highly trained dogs alert their handlers to dangerous blood sugar changes, offering both safety and newfound independence for the children and their families. This fundraiser helps continue the mission of training and placing diabetic alert dogs with children in need at no cost to the family.

There will be raffles, live music, vendor booths and food available for purchase.

Race registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the race starting at 10.
