LACONIA — Join Laconia Public Library every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. for fun storytimes. Younger or older siblings are always welcome at these weekly programs.
The popular Move & Groove program will take place on Fridays, Oct. 6 and 20, at 10 a.m., for newborns through children age 6. Participants will use scarves, musical instruments and the parachute to dance, play and get those wiggles out.
Dive into the library’s many bins of Legos at October's Lego Club gatherings, held on Tuesdays, Oct. 2, 16 and 30, at 3:30 p.m. Masterpieces will be displayed in the children’s room.
The Kids Graphic Novel Club will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 5:30 p.m., featuring favorite graphic novels from the children’s room. Materials will be provided for children to start their own.
The Halloween season begins this month with the Children’s Spooky Book Giveaway. Drop your name in the jack-o-lantern at the children's desk from Oct. 1 through Oct. 21, to be entered into a drawing for one of five spooky books, for newborns to age 12.
Stop by during Pumpkinfest on Friday, Oct. 27, at 3 p.m., for some mini pumpkin painting, best for newborns to age 12. Pick up a treat in the children’s room on Halloween while you are out trick-or-treating.
Teen programs also begin this month with Teen Mindfulness presented by Karen Deighan of the New Hampshire Cooperative Extension on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 3 p.m. Best for ages 9-18, this program will teach a variety of techniques aimed at reducing stress.
Join the new Teen Gaming Club on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 3:30 p.m., to play Mario Kart on the big screen in the auditorium. Come share your artwork at the Teen Art Club on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 3:30 p.m. A set of charcoal pencils will be raffled.
The Teen Manga and Anime Club will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 3:30 p.m. Join the library to discuss your favorite manga and anime and to watch an anime episode chosen by the group, courtesy of Crunchyroll.
All teen clubs are for ages 12-18.
