LACONIA — Laconia Pet Center owners recently presented Lezama Happy Tails Dog Park with a check for over $500, received for the dog park being chosen as the January beneficiary of the store's Round Up For Charity promotion, which benefits a different local charity monthly.

The Laconia Pet Center usually chooses the dog park twice a year. The Lezama Family Happy Tails Dog Park is run through donations and does not receive any financial aid from any government. "We greatly appreciate businesses, such as the Laconia Pet Center, who contribute to the park. We've run pretty much month to month on the donations we receive, but we need to build up a balance to enable us to pay some of our larger expenses, like insurance we're required to have, and park maintenance, " explained Ginny Martin, President of the Happy Tails Dog Park of the Lakes Region, the 501C-3 charitable organization who manages the dog park for the City of Laconia. "We also need to cover unexpected expenses, like the removal of dying trees recently so they won't pose a hazard to park users and their dogs. We particularly would appreciate local businesses to consider being a sponsor or the dog park."

Contact the dog park by sending email to info@htdpnh.org, and donations can be made online at htdpnh.org/donate or by mailing a check to: Happy Tails Dog Park of the Lakes Region, P.O. Box 6184, Laconia, NH 03246.
