ALTON — Take care of hazardous waste close to home. Saturday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, there will be a hazardous waste collection at the Alton Transfer Station at 74 Hurd Hill Road.
Try the convenience of dropping off hazardous waste at the same place and time as disposing trash. Alton folks can also attend every third Saturday, May through October, at the Lakes Region Household Hazardous Product Facility at 404 Beech Pond Road in Wolfeboro. Get a free pass at the Alton Transfer Station.
Call 603-651-7530 for the most accurate information. No latex paint, as it is not a hazardous waste. Oil-based paints, stains, automotive fluids, pool chemicals, cleaning products and pesticides are common items collected. Placing containers in a cardboard box will speed up removal and keep vehicles tidy.
