Granite State Wheelers awards $2,500 grant to WOW Trail for bicycle repair station

LACONIA — The WOW Trail is pleased to announce a $2,500 grant from Granite State Wheelers to help fund the purchase and installation of a trailside bicycle repair station for trail users in Laconia.

The proposed repair station would give cyclists access to basic tools and an air pump for minor adjustments and quick fixes, helping riders continue safely and confidently along the WOW Trail and the broader regional trail network.

WOW Trail representatives are currently evaluating a possible location near the Lakeport promenade area, where construction is underway on improvements that will connect the WOW Trail to the new Opechee Loop. That area is also expected to be the focus of an upcoming personalized brick fundraiser supporting the WOW Trail and related promenade enhancements.

“Granite State Wheelers has been a consistent champion for safe and enjoyable bicycling across New Hampshire, and this grant is a practical investment in the kind of infrastructure that makes trails more useful for everyday riders,” Allan Beetle, of the WOW Trail, said. “We are grateful for their support and excited about the possibility of placing this repair station where it can serve many trail users at the Lakeport connection.”

The WOW Trail also encourages local cyclists to learn more about Granite State Wheelers and consider becoming members. GSW offers rides for adults of all ages and skill levels along with a number of member benefits.

The WOW Trail will announce details shortly on the personalized brick fundraiser planned for the Lakeport promenade area. The campaign will give community members an opportunity to honor someone or something special while helping build a more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly community.

The WOW Trail is a paved, 10-foot-wide, multi-use rail trail in Laconia, New Hampshire, enjoyed by bicyclists, walkers and runners. The nonprofit WOW Trail organization works to promote, design, build and maintain a recreational path through the City of Laconia as part of the regional rail trail network connecting communities from Meredith to Franklin.
