ALTON — Girl Scout Daisy Troop 62948 has been very busy since forming last fall, learning life skills that will serve them well as they grow up. The troop includes 12 girls in kindergarten and first grade. Sharing troop leader duties are Elysia Sleeper, Sara Tower and Michaeleen Sicard.

Sleeper said they are more than happy to welcome new members, adding that the girls are very supportive and love meeting new girls and making new friends. Some knew each other before joining the troop, but more friendships developed as they got to know others.

“We currently meet every other Sunday,’ she said, “and have done activities such as having each girl decorate a Daisy Flower to represent themselves in the troop, making a Christmas ornament, earning four Daisy petals, going on a troop hike and have had two cookie booths for their very first season. We are looking forward to warmer weather to get outside, being more active in the community and earning more badges! Michaeleen, one of our leaders, also has access to horses where the girls can learn about caring for animals. The girls have also expressed an interest in camping and crafts.

“We are all very excited to watch the girls as they explore and experience new adventures!”

Girls are welcome to join Girl Scouts any time of the year. Participate by joining an existing troop, forming a new troop, or even as an individual member. Find out more at www.girlscoutsgwm.org.
