GILFORD — August marks New Hampshire Eats Local Month. To celebrate, the Gilford Public Library is hosting a number of food-centric programs within the coming weeks.
The library will host Hannah Rush, owner of Trillium Farm to Table restaurant in Laconia, on Wednesday Aug. 7, at 5 p.m. Trillium has partnered with local farms to provide balanced, scratch-made plates with gluten-free and vegan options, inspired by the middle-east, Mediterranean cuisine, California, and classic comforts. Rush will discuss the local farms they source and sample a dish.
Following Rush, the Gilford Public Library will host a double feature on Thursday, Aug. 8. Starting at 5 p.m. is the bimonthly Cookbook Club. Copies of this month’s book, New Hampshire: From Farm to Kitchen are available at the library. Attendees are encouraged to grab a copy of the book, make a dish from the book and bring it to the potluck supper.
Immediately following the Cookbook Club, Colleen Stewart of the New Hampshire Food Alliance will give the presentation of “How to Eat Local” at 6 p.m. Stweart and other guest speakers will share their thoughts and ideas, with ample opportunity for attendees to ask questions.
