LACONIA — The Colonial Theatre of Laconia will present a festive lineup of holiday-themed events that will kick off the holidays and keep the festivities going until Christmas.

Safe Haven Ballet presents “The Nutcracker” will take place on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 4:30 p.m. This dynamic performance includes audience members’ favorite characters including a strong-minded Clara to the eccentric Drosselmeyer, the spooky Rats, as well as beloved Sugarplum Fairy danced by artistic director Lissa Curtis.

The Vienna Boys Choir will perform on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. The angelic-voiced musicians of the Vienna Boys Choir celebrate the magic of the holiday season with a delightful program of Austrian folk songs, classical masterpieces, Christmas hymns, and holiday carols. For six centuries, these young cultural ambassadors have been adored by the world over for their wide range of repertoire, purity of tone, and generosity of musical spirit.

Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra will present “Take a Bough” on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. The annual holiday concert festivities return featuring a brand new mix of traditional carols and modern flair, interpreted by husband and wife team Alex and Rachel Hunton — vocal and theatre veterans of Laconia’s Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative.

Eileen Ivers: Joyful Christmas will take place on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. For years Ivers and the band have been celebrating the glorious story of Christmas, thoughtfully, uniquely and with pure unbridled joy. Ivers’ Irish and American roots shine throughout the evening’s beautiful mix of traditional, story-filled, age-old Wren Day songs, poems, and of course, foot stomping and hollerin’ roots music. Ivers and the ensemble’s plethora of instruments and voices weave throughout the evening, coupled with Ivers’ signature warmth, inviting listeners in for a tuneful, soulful celebration capturing the true spirit and joy of the season.

Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative will present “A Christmas Carol: The Musical Ghost Story” from Friday, Dec. 13 to Sunday, Dec. 15 with shows at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. This original adaptation by NH native Joel Mercier features a bright score, some twists and turns in the plot, stunning costumes, special effects, and some frightful ghosts, all while staying true to Dickens’ original novella.

Christmas With The Celts will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. The Celts, are Dubliner Patrick D’Arcy (U2, Sting, Josh Groban), Fiachra O’Regan from Connemara, Ireland, on uilleann pipes/whistles/bodhran, Maggie Lander and Luisa Marion on vocals and fiddle, Matt Menefee (Mumford & Sons) banjo/mandolin/ vocals, and Nashville songwriter/producer and band leader Ric Blair on vocals/guitar/bodhran/piano.
